( Date 04/09/2010 )Turkish Airlines cleared for HCMC-Istanbul flights

VietNamNet Bridge - Turkish Airlines is set to operate flights between Vietnam and Istanbul at the end of this year.

Flag carrier Turkish Airlines has been licensed to offer flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Turkey’s capital Istanbul at the end of this year.

The license, granted by the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam, will allow the Turkish carrier to start the service in December.

Huong Giang Travel, the carrier’s general agent in Vietnam, said Turkish Airlines will operate four flights per week to HCMC via Bangkok. It will use Airbus 340-300 aircraft with 270 seats for the route.

Ngo Minh Duc, director of Huong Giang Travel, said the company is working with other tourism operators in HCMC as they plan to provide trips to Turkey, taking advantage of the new air route.

He also said it will be easy for passengers from Vietnam to fly to other European and Middle East destinations from Istanbul.
